MyLand, a Phoenix-based soil health company, has partnered with Arizona State University (ASU) to launch a $3 million initiative aimed at improving water conservation and soil performance across Arizona farms. This project, funded by the Arizona Water Conservation Grant Fund and administered by the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA), will deploy MyLand’s patented microalgae-based soil health technology on up to 2,400 acres statewide. By delivering live, native microalgae through existing irrigation systems, the technology activates the soil’s natural biology, enhancing water-use efficiency and helping farmers manage salt accumulation in irrigated fields. The initiative targets a variety of crops, including melons, pistachios, corn, rosemary, cotton, dates, and alfalfa.

ASU's Center for Hydrologic Innovations is employing advanced monitoring tools to assess crop water use efficiency in both control and MyLand-serviced plots, while the Swette Center for Sustainable Food Systems is extending the project's impact through outreach to local farming communities. This collaboration supports Arizona’s broader water conservation goals, such as reducing groundwater depletion and promoting sustainable farming practices statewide. “This initiative reflects our mission to empower farmers through sustainable practices that not only improve soil health and productivity but also help protect water, one of Arizona’s most valuable resources,” said Dane Hague, Co-Founder and CEO of MyLand.
